Continuing Sonia's Professional Development

Earlier in the year Sonia attended an RAD short course focusing on ‘Dance for Older Adults’ in order to develop her knowledge and practice further, and support her Masters studies. Although much of the material was known to Sonia due to her previous experience specialising in older adults, it also offered new insights into her craft. Of particular interest was the benefits of dance for those with Parkinson’s disease!

After a pause in Sonia’s masters due to her house move and wedding, she cannot wait to jump back in again in January. Even more excitingly, her first choice module, and the one most applicable to her work, has now become available; Dance for Lifelong Learning! Yippee!

The RAD Silver Swans Celebration

What an absolutely incredible day we’ve had today. So full of love and kindness as Silver Swans from across the UK and as far as Germany gathered to share and celebrate the joy of ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance.

Every moment was fabulous -from attending ballet classes, workshops and talks from inspiring people, to ransacking the gift shop, meeting Silver Swans ambassador, Angela Rippon, and of course finally stepping on stage. I am beyond proud of my ladies who shone so brightly in what could be an incredibly intimidating scenario! A humongous well done to every single one of you!

Every group performed wonderfully in this celebration of inclusivity, and it was so heartwarming to watch, so a whopping well done to all involved.
